Former Tehran-based diplomat Patrick Gibbons has reflected on whether Iran has been weakened as its allies face significant losses from Israel’s attacks.
“Its major strength was its ability to light up the Middle East, and that is to cause problems, and it was done through Hezbollah, it was done through Hamas, it was done through their proxies,” he told Sky News Australia.
Now that Iran’s allies have been put onto the “back foot” following multiple attacks, it’s going to be “difficult” for Iran to continue its hold on the region, according to Mr Gibbons.
Mr Gibbons also said Iran “isn’t as strong as some people make it out to be,” and all other channels should be looked at to stop an attack.
